Shane is a recent UNM graduate and a CancerPREP post-baccalaureate scholar at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. Having obtained his undergraduate degree in biology, he is working to advance his career with new skills in Machine Learning for Bioinformatics. He has experience with both wet lab and computational methods through his recent work in the Cancer Research Facility and continues to expand this repertoire as a productive member of the TumorAI team. Currently he is focusing efforts on developing methods for predicting patient drug response and creating tools for quickly standardizing annotations for interfacing with public databases.

After completing his time in the PREP program, he hopes to continue to develop his skillset and work towards the advancement of genetic technologies to help increase quality of life and reduce the ecological burden of humanity on the planet.
